The crowdfunding campaign for my picture storybook has launched! You can SUPPORT THE BOOK VIA THIS LINK! And read on for more info on the book, and on crowdfunding... Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese is about a cat that longs for adventure and has the imagination to back it up! On a lovely but otherwise ordinary day, she seeks excitement among the forests and fields surrounding her home, and lets her imagination run wild. Her adventure includes an encounter with a kangaroo (or rabbit), a komodo dragon (or frog), a run-in with a tree and an escape from an angry swarm of Pterodactyls (bees), and that's before Beverlee REALLY lets her imagination carry her away! This book has been in the works for a long time. I originally wrote a version of the story as a grade 6 school project (overseen by guest instructor and children’s author Emily Hearn)! At the time, it was a story about a Burmese cat having a "bad day adventure". I also did the illustrations. The next year, my book was shown to the students of Col. J. E. Farewell Public School as an example of what they could accomplish after they had their session with Ms. Hearn. Years later, when I became more serious about writing books for children, I re-wrote the story, now called Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese and sent it out to publishers for consideration. A couple years later, I teamed up with Alex Zgud and started submitting sample illustrations along with the (many times revised) story. Cricket Cottage Publishing accepted the book for publication in the summer of 2014 and Alex and I have been busily working on the design and artwork ever since! The crowdfunding campaign...Pubslush I have launched a crowd-funding campaign through Pubslush to help cover expenses associated with launching and promoting the book. I hope to cover the costs involved with a book launch in June or September, possibly appear as a vendor for two days at FringeKids! in July, and a booth and advertising with the Word on the Street festival (this September 27th at Harbourfront Centre). SUPPORT THE BOOK HERE! There are loads of rewards (print copies of the book, some signed, Beverlee T-shirts in kid's sizes, bookmarks and shout-outs...and more!) and several donation levels to consider!
