COMING SOON - SKYPE VISITS TO ANY SCHOOL, ANYWHERE!
For now, I'm available to visit schools in Toronto, and soon, the GTA and Southern Ontario.
Together, we can create a unique and multifaceted learning experience for your students!
$150.00: Reading of the picture book plus Q&A and minor discussion. Book order forms left with students as well as a couple “take away” items (a certificate or bookmark, stickers, colouring page or something else each student can take home) and 1 copy donated to the school library. 30-45 minutes. Any of my books would work well with this level:
$250.00: 1 class visit with reading, post-reading discussion and trivia related to the book, q&a and activities (which I will copy and bring as handouts — all black and white except in the case of Tamara-related certificates, which I will also sign), 1-2 copies of the book donated to the school library, loan of the lesson plan in case the teacher would like to do some activities separately (before or after my visit) and I will leave book order forms and a couple “take aways” for the students to take home. 1 hour or so. Any of my books can be used at this tier level. $450.00-$500.00: Class visit with reading, post reading discussion and trivia, q&a and introduction to “poster”, “diorama”, “research” or “list” related activities (as determined on a case by case basis). Students will have 2 days - 2 weeks (as determined by teacher/class schedule) to work on their assignments and I will return for a second class visit to see presentations by the students and their work. Activities such as those done at the $250 level tier can also be done during my first and/or second visit (including certificates, in the case of Tamara). Book forms and take aways will be left for students to take home and a set of up to 15 books are included for the class and library. Lesson plans will be loaned out for the duration of the session and if teachers wish to sign up for a visit at this or the $250 level next year get to keep the lesson plan binders. 1 hour + per visit. This tier works best for Tamara Turtle’s Life So Far, and possibly also Libby the Lobivia Jajoiana which is out Fall 2019. Please note that a “class” is considered to be no more than 30 students. A minor price adjustment based on number of students/activity copies and books will be made if a class has more than 30 students, or if you wish to combine classes. Teachers will be given the appropriate number of activity sheets to cover all the students in the class. Any loaned out lesson plans or books that have been damaged will need to be purchased for $? per binder and $12.99 per book. Finally, I will be able to provide a brief contract for any school visit tier purchased. Synopses of my picture books: (CLICK READ MORE)

The first advance review for my latest picture book (coming September!) Mixter Twizzle's Breakfast...see what children's author Karin Larson has to say:
"Mixter Twizzle’s Breakfast, written by Regan W.H. Macaulay and illustrated by Wei Lu, is the story of Mixter Twizzle, a mischievous creature living below the chicken coop at Riverdale Farm. His devilish escapades render him an outcast on the farm. But is this lonely life enough for Mixter? Kids and parents alike will enjoy following Mixter’s antics around the farm as he stirs up trouble. Ms. Macaulay’s creative use of language and alliteration in her story telling make this a fun read. MIXTER TWIZZLE’S BREAKFAST allows kids to learn the benefits of treating others well without preaching the lesson and is highly recommended for readers ages 4-7. Ms. Lu’s beautifully bright and animate illustrations really bring Mixter Twizzle and his story to life. **Disclosure: I received a copy of this book free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review. This review consists only of my truthful opinions, not influenced in any way by the author or publisher." It’s Triple Take’s 25th anniversary and we’re offering 30% off all our published scripts and 20% off our published novella adaptations!

But before we do that, allow me to share the press release for Mixter's up-coming book launch: FOR RELEASE IN EARLY SEPTEMBER August 1, 2018 / Toronto area Visit http://reganwhmacaulay.weebly.com/childrens-literature.html or http://www.mirrorworldpublishing.com/ for contact details and to request review copies, photos, etc. TORONTO BOOK LAUNCH FOR NEW PICTURE BOOK “MIXTER TWIZZLE’S BREAKFAST” Book launch for author’s latest picture book to be held during the Cabbagetown Festival Regan W. H. Macaulay is holding a book launch for her latest picture storybook, Mixter Twizzle’s Breakfast, out on the front lawn of the Necropolis Chapel at 200 Winchester Street, Toronto, where the Cabbagetown Theatre Co. will be presenting children’s play Aladdin and his Magic Lamp within the Chapel - all taking place during the Cabbagetown Festival Saturday September 8th (Noon - 5pm) and Sunday September 9th, 2018 (Noon - 5pm). Mixter Twizzle’s Breakfast is a picture storybook written by Regan W. H. Macaulay of Toronto, illustrated by Toronto artist Wei Lu, and published by Mirror World Publishing, Windsor, Ontario (http://www.mirrorworldpublishing.com/). The book is intended for children ages 4-7. Mixter Twizzle is an odd, red, round-shaped, mischievous creature. He lives in a hovel, beneath a rustic barn, underneath the chicken coop at Riverdale Farm. He’s a snoozing sneezer and a snoring barker; a peculiar sort that both annoys and pleases. At first, Mixter Twizzle is thrilled by his egg-gorging fests, delighting in his own wickedness, but he soon realizes he is lonely. He longs for companionship, but the hens he has tormented will have nothing to do with him. Can this fiendish creature learn to make friends at the farm? Actor and CBC Media Librarian Kevin Risk will read a 5 minute teaser portion Mixter Twizzle at 12:40, 1:40, 2:40, 3:40 and 4:40pm Saturday and Sunday. Be sure to attend the reading and receive a draw ticket for prizes (draw will take place after the weekend and winners will be notified by email by Monday September 10th)! The author will be available each day to sign copies of the book (the illustrator will also be present to sign books at times TBD). And there’s the entire Cabbagetown Festival, Riverdale Farm and Aladdin and his Magic Lamp to enjoy before and after the reading: Cabbagetown Theatre Company presents Aladdin and his Magical Lamp an all-ages, panto-inspired fantasy featuring the hero Aladdin, his wise-cracking mother, a spell-casting Genie, an evil villain and of course, a princess! Shows are 30 minutes long and run at 12 noon, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm on Saturday, Sept. 8th and Sunday, Sept. 9th. Tickets are $5 per person — be sure to check out the show before or after a teaser reading of Mixter Twizzle’s Breakfast! Other events being held during the Cabbagetown Festival: Cabbagetown Street Festival (with all kinds of vendors, and BBQs, children’s area, street performers and more), the Arts and Crafts Festival in Riverdale Park West, Park Snacks, and of course, Riverdale Farm, where the story takes place (which is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year)! Regan writes novels, short stories, children’s literature, and scripts. Writing is her passion, but she’s also a producer and director of theatre, film, and television. She is an animal-enthusiast as well, which led her to become a Certified Canine (and Feline) Massage Therapist. Other award-winning picture storybooks include Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese, Sloth the Lazy Dragon, Tamara Turtle’s Life So Far. She is also the author of The Trilogy of Horrifically Half-baked Ham, which includes Space Zombies! (based on her film, Space Zombies: 13 Months of Brain-Spinning Mayhem!--available on iTunes and on DVD), They Suck and Horror at Terror Creek. Wei Lu is an illustrator and graphic designer residing in Toronto. She grew up in China before studying at Nova Scotia’s College of Art and Design. She loves animals and make-believe characters of any kind and can bring them to life with a pencil and paper. -ENDS- And now...the cover reveal...please hit "Read More"...(drum roll) |
