Book launch for "Mixter Twizzle's Breakfast" starts TOMORROW!

"Mixter Twizzle's Breakfast" is an extra special story for me. It is set at Riverdale Farm (located in Cabbagetown, Toronto), a place I visit often and find inspiring! The whole Cabbagetown neighbourhood holds a special place in my heart - I've been visiting, often weekly, ever since I first moved to Toronto (way back when I started university at Ryerson), sometimes with my mom. We visit Riverdale Farm, lunch at Peartree restaurant or Park Snacks, weave our way around the Necropolis grounds (where my step-dad is buried and Kev and I have a plot there as well...we also have plaques there commemorating my grandparents (Mom's side) and my father, who passed away almost one year ago) and the grounds of the Farm, too. I'm always going to Menagerie Pet Shop, too, so I can get food for my amphibian babies. I've attended many Cabbagetown Festivals, and they're truly a blast! I always make sure to set aside some time to tour the arts and crafts show in Riverdale Park West. I've also worked with a couple of the fine folks that run the Cabbagetown Theatre Company during the Slaw Festival an embarrassing number of years ago. They present a children's panto play every year at the Cabbagetown Festival, and this year, I'm proud have my launch linked up with their show, "Aladdin and his Magical Lamp"! I will be on the Necropolis Chapel lawn (where you can also buy tickets for their show), while the show is performed inside the Chapel. For all these reasons, and because "Mixter Twizzle's Breakfast" is one of the stories I wrote as an assignment for my Writing for Children and Teenagers course a good thirteen years ago, this book launch is extra super special to me.  Not to mention that Kevin came up with Mixter's original design!
