Blood in the Snow Film Festival Day 11: "Come True", "Ingredients" and the Bloodies (Awards)!11/13/2020 It's FRIDAY THE 13th and we've reached the final Blood in the Snow Film Festival post...which, as you know, is a few days behind the actual festival, which aired on Super Channel and "closed" November 7th. Let's review closing night of BITS on Super Channel, which again was Saturday, November 7th... 9:00 pm (repeats at 12:00 am) COME TRUE (Dir. Anthony Scott Burns) (104 mins) Sarah (Julia Sarah Stone, The Unseen) is a teen who sleeps in fits and is haunted by vivid nightmares. She takes part in a sleep study group at a local university in order to cure her disorder. Instead, she is plunged into a disturbing reality that has Sarah questioning who she is and what is happening to her. With a magnetic performance from Ms. Stone, fantastical cinematography and an ethereal pop score, Come True is a powerful examination of the power of dreams that will have you thinking and talking long after it is over. MY TAKE: A beautifully composed film, whether you're talking about the writing, directing, or the performances. Julia Sarah Stone is wonderful as the lost in the world and in herself Sarah. The score and songs by Electric Youth are haunting. The dream sequences and FX are gloomy and foreboding. And naturally, there is a twist at the end--it is a film about dreams, after all. I think this is my favourite film of the festival. Opening with the short film INGREDIENTS (Dir. Hannah Michielson) (23:00 mins) MY TAKE: Paranoia and loneliness are the chief ingredients in this short...and a writer finally finds some inspiration to write. Read on for The Bloodies! 11:30 pm - THE BLOODIES AWARDS Join us following the final film for our annual awards show! (30 mins)
