My Dad passed away September 13th. He was a gentle, soft-spoken and intelligent man. I will miss him very much. He is survived by his wife, a son, Andrew, a step-son, Derek, and a granddaughter, as well as nieces, Tracey and Sarah, and their families. My husband, family on my side, as well as on Derek's side and friends will miss him as well. Tom was a snare drummer with Grantham in St. Catharines and later the Commanders in Toronto. He was an electrical engineer and managed Whitby Hydro for many years. In his later years he also became a lawyer with his own practice in Whitby. He played a lot of tennis when I was a little girl. He seemed to appreciate my writing skills and always thought I got that talent from his side of the family. Most importantly, he was a big fan of Tolkien, particularly The Lord of the Rings. Here's a memorial post on the Optimists Alumni (drum corps) website, of which my Dad was a member: www.optimists-alumni.org/index.htm
