Book launch for author’s 1st picture book to be held at Ella Minnow’s Children’s Bookstore.
Regan W. H. Macaulay is holding a book launch for her very first picture storybook, Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese, at Ella Minnow Children’s Bookstore (991 Kingston Road, Toronto) on Sunday October 4th, 2015 at 2pm. Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese is a picture storybook written by Regan W. H. Macaulay, illustrated by Alex Zgud, and published by Cricket Cottage Publishing. The book is intended for “listeners” aged 3-6 and readers 7 and up. Beverlee is a cat that longs for adventure. On a lovely but otherwise ordinary day, she seeks excitement among the forests and fields surrounding her home, where she lets her imagination run wild. The ordinary suddenly becomes extraordinary in the eyes of this little brown cat. Let’s follow Beverlee on her adventure…through the forest, and inside her mind! Julie Lemieux, Canadian voice actress in many children’s television series (including Arthur, PAW Patrol, Scaredy Squirrel, Detentionaire, Max & Ruby, Busytown Mysteries, Rupert, and Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends, as well as feature animated film The Nut Job and many, many more) will start things off with a reading of Beverlee at 2:30pm. The author and illustrator will be available after the reading to sign copies of the book. ADVANCE REVIEWS: "This was a very well written and beautifully illustrated children’s book...I think this book is great for teaching children about many different animals as well as how to use their imagination.” — Ellen Pilch, 15andmeowing.com “...Children will delight in this charming tale of a cat and her imagination. The watercolor illustrations are well done and beautifully capture Beverlee Beaz's imaginary world. Beverlee Beaz, the Brown Burmese is an excellent book for igniting a child's imagination. Highly recommended for children ages 3-7.” — Sherri Ellis, author of Ten Zany Birds and more. “...the story is fun, the main character is sweet, and the illustrations are lovely–well worth a look!” — Lauri Fortino, Frog on a Blog, author of The Peddler’s Bed (out as of September 1st, 2015). Regan writes novels, short stories, children’s literature, and scripts. Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese is Regan’s first picture storybook. Her next picture book, Sloth the Lazy Dragon, will be illustrated by Alex Zgud once again, and published by Guardian Angel Publishing (publication date TBD). The very first version of Beverlee was actually written when Regan was in Grade 6 and attending R. A. Sennett Public School in Whitby, Ontario. Children’s author Emily Hearn, a guest instructor, guided Regan’s Grade 6 class through an assignment where pairs of students created picture storybooks by hand. Beverlee Beaz the Brown Burmese is dedicated to Ms. Hearn, and to Regan’s elementary school. |
