Alfie Dog Fiction has launched its second International Short Story Prize. The first prize will be £200 AND publication of the author’s short story collection, with editorial support for completion where necessary. The book will be available as both an ebook and paperback and the author will receive 5 complimentary copies of the paperback as well as royalties on all further sales.
Founder and editor, Rosemary Kind says, “We were delighted with the success of last year’s competition. The unique format of entry fee, by short story download, means that writers win in every way. As more people enter the competition our existing authors benefit by earning royalties on downloads, as well as the entrant being a potential winner too. We have always sought to support authors as best we can, by offering them a platform to reach out to new readers. This is part of that culture.”
The competition which closes on 30th September is open to any writers over the age of 18 writing in English. The entry fee is simply to download five paid stories, by different authors, from the site. Writers then submit one of their own stories, but, unlike the usual submission requirements of Alfie Dog Fiction, it must be a work that is previously unpublished and between 1000 and 2000 words.
